A central New Testament theme is the coming of Christ’s kingdom. Evangelicals are divided, however, about what kind of kingdom this is, as well as what kind of future can be expected for it. Dr. Bahnsen addresses these critical theological questions, expounding the Bible’s teaching on the subject and answering questions like:”Is Christ’s reign merely internal?” “Are we in the Kingdom now?”and “How does Christ’s dominion bear on the church today?”
Dr. Bahnsen analyzes the major millennial positions held by Bible-believing Christians. He presents an exegetical-theological critique of dispensationalism, premillennialism and amillennialism. He then explores the themes of covenant and kingdom in the Bible as offering scriptural warrant for optimism regarding Christ’s kingdom on earth prior to His return.
In the face of many doomsday prophets in our time, Dr. Bahnsen declares that God is still sovereign and will keep His promises, and we may therefore expect the success and prosperity of the gospel in the future.
Dr. Bahnsen argues that the “Great Tribulation” has already transpired in history. Moreover, contrary to amillennial and premillennial pessimism, the Bible teaches that great victories for the gospel lie ahead in history. He then shows how Scripture teaches that the moral authority of the Old Testament law, in its social and civil applications, continues in the New Testament era.
Hear Dr. Bahnsen’s simple, powerful and biblical explanation to a seminary student’s sincere question: “Why are you a postmillennialist?”
Part of the BASIC TRAINING SERIES, this is the best introduction to eschatology [the study of last things]. Gives an overview of the book of Revelation and the various millennial positions and concludes with a positive presentation of the biblical view of last things.
There is abundant biblical warrant for the postmillennial confidence in gospel prosperity before the return of Christ. But what about those passages of Scripture which appear to teach a more pessimistic outlook for the course of history up to the second advent? Dr. Bahnsen hits this question head-on, offering detailed and persuasive exegetical explanation.
A short demonstration, by Dr. Bahnsen, of the optimistic themes in both the Old and New Testaments concerning the promised success and triumph of the gospel on the earth.
Christianity comes to the world with a bold message and an equally bold mission to accomplish. Dr. Bahnsen explains our “strategic” work and prospects: proving God’s existence (against atheism), proclaiming God’s mercy (against Islam), establishing biblical authority (against theological liberalism), and promoting optimistic and transformational Christianity (against pietism and defeatism).
